A sizable gathering of Left workers and supporters has amassed in Kolkata since Sunday morning for the Brigade Rally organized by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) youth organization, Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI).
The event, set to commence at 12 noon, will see the participation of prominent figures such as CPI(M) state secretary Mohammad Salim and DYFI state secretary Meenakshi Mukherjee. This marks the first Brigade Rally organized by DYFI in 15 years, drawing leftist activists and supporters from various districts across the state.
Since Saturday morning, left-leaning activists from distant districts have been steadily arriving in Kolkata, where camps have been established in front of Dharmatalla Y Channel to accommodate them. Additional tents have been erected behind the main stage of the brigade, providing lodging and sustenance for the attendees.
CPI(M) State Committee member Inderjit Ghosh mentioned that 30 thousand food packets have already been distributed, highlighting the growing enthusiasm as more people join the rally throughout the day.
